Jean de Pontac acquired Haut-Brion in 1533, founding a winemaking estate which has been passed down through the ages under the stewardship of only four families.
In 1935, the château passed into the possession of the Dillon family.
A Premier Cru Classé en 1855, Haut-Brion is the most prestigious estate in the renowned Pessac-Leognan appellation.
The vineyards are planted with 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, producing wines which are elegant, silky and aromatically complex. The wines of Haut-Brion are rich and concentrated, superb expressions of the unique character of this terroir.
